Hi I’m Venetta, a qualified person-centred counsellor.
I have over 10 years’ experience working in a variety of listening and helping roles with people from a range of social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
I currently work within a Salvation Army lifehouse hostel for those experiencing homelessness and have spent the last two years counselling young people within a counselling agency. I also have personal and working experience within a church setting, and was previously a listener with the Samaritans and their prison team.
I have worked with the following but not limited to: everyday life problems, loss/ bereavement, cultural issues and stress.
I currently offer individual, online counselling for those aged 18 years old and above.
What can I expect?
You might want a space where you can explore how you’re feeling and what’s going on, have something in particular that you’re working towards, want to find the right solution for you, or you might want to better understand yourself or a particular situation.
Whatever the reason, I will work with you. There will never be any pressure or expectation that you have to share something you don’t want to – this is your space to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you and to share as much or as little as you want to.
Whatever you want to bring to our sessions, we can explore it together. There will never be any judgement, I will accept you and how you’re feeling, and I will listen to understand. I will be right there alongside you as you share and explore.
I aim to offer a safe, private, and caring space where you can be heard and where you can freely be yourself.
How I work

As a person-centred counsellor I will work to understand you and whatever you choose to bring to the sessions – your experiences, beliefs, behaviours, feelings.
No matter what you bring whether it’s past or present, big or small, I will never advise, diagnose, or tell you what to do but I will work in collaboration with you and help you explore what you bring.
I will be led by you and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
The person-centred approach can help you gain self-awareness, grow in self-acceptance, and help you better understand yourself.
It’s based on the belief that each person has the ability to flourish and grow and to become their true self.
I aim to support this process by offering empathy, acceptance, honesty, and non-judgement.
FAQs
If you can’t find your question here, please contact me
What does the first session look like?
I offer a free chat (up to 20 minutes) to find out what you’d like to gain from counselling.
This is also a chance for us to meet to see if we can work together and how you feel speaking with me. It’s important that you find the right counsellor for you in your journey.
How many sessions do I need to attend?
It’s up to you. We can work together on a one-off, short-term or long-term basis and I will be guided by you to work in the way that suits you best.
What if I want to end my sessions?
You can stop counselling at any time. You aren’t in any way obligated to continue attending the sessions if you don’t want to.
How long are the sessions?
Each session lasts up to 50 minutes.
Are these sessions confidential?
Yes. I offer a private and confidential space for you to share.
Please note though that there are some exceptions to when confidentiality may be broken and when I might seek external support. This would be in cases where there is significant harm to yourself or others such as suicide, abuse, or illegal activity such as terrorism or fraud.
In any event where confidentiality needs to be broken, I will always do my best to discuss any concerns with you first where it is safe and possible to do so.
How much does it cost?
Each session costs £50.
This must be paid and received by bank transfer the day before your session.
What happens if I can’t attend my session?
Sometimes we’re unable to attend a session and need to cancel or rearrange, and that’s okay. Please let me know the day before your session at the very latest.
For same day cancellations/ rearranging of sessions, missed sessions and where no notice is given, the full session fee will be charged.
What if I’m late to a session?
If you’re running late the session can still take place but will finish at the allocated time. Extensions cannot be given. Please note that there will be no refund in this instance.
Are you qualified?
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I also undertake regular training to stay up-to-date in my practice.
